v1.1.0 Major Update!

The first major update for Brawn, Scorn and Ammo! Version 1.1.0! A lot of changes, fixes and improvements were made with a couple of new additions too! The major focus of this update was addressing the games difficulty by adding a new easier difficulty setting, but that’s not all that was added. For those who like to uncover every secret and go for 100% completion, the new results feature will be useful! Many of the existing levels have had adjustments made to their layout to allow for easier backtracking, secret searching and item collecting too. The full list of additions, changes and fixes can be found below!

Difficulty:

  • The difficulty selection scene has been remade. It now has a graph that shows the differences between the difficulty options in greater detail.
  • It is now possible to lower the difficulty at any time from the pause menu or game over scene.
  • Classic has been renamed to Impossible.
  • Casual has been renamed to Very Hard.
  • A new difficulty setting has been added called Hard, which is, ironically, the new easiest setting.
  • Compared to Very Hard (previously known as Casual), Hard has the following differences:
    • Spiked Life Erasers deal normal damage and do not kill the player in one hit.
    • Enemies have less health.
    • Shop prices are cheaper.
    • Timers on levers last slightly longer.
    • The death ray moves slower.

New Additions:

  • A new music track has been added.
  • Widescreen support has been added when playing in a browser at fullscreen.
  • It is now possible to restart the current level at any time from the pause menu. This new feature is not present on Impossible (previously known as Classic), although it is still possible to retry a level after completing it, or to restart it by lowering the difficulty.
  • A new results feature has been added:
    • It is now possible for the player to see how many collectables and secrets they have found within a level, or from previous levels, from the pause menu.
    • A new scene has been added that displays the players results after a level has been completed.
    • A final results scene has been added that, upon game completion, shows the player how many secrets and collectables they found throughout the course of the whole game.
    • An option has been added into the gameplay section on the pause menu that allows the player to skip the new results scene after a stage is completed.

Changes:

  • Many of the existing levels have had their layout altered. This is mainly to allow for easier backtracking and item collecting. Some of the new backtracking routes are secrets within themselves!
  • Some of the secrets in the earlier levels are now easier to find and no longer require knowledge of mechanics taught in later levels to get to.
  • Hearts have a larger detection area and are thus easier to pick up.
  • The map transition scene now displays the difficulty that the player is currently playing on.
  • Breakable tiles give a slightly more noticeable hint.

Fixes:

  • Fixed a rare issue that would cause the game to softlock during a scene transition.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur if the player waited on the game over scene for a short while without having a save file with gameplay data present.
  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to pause in the game over scene after having selected an option.
  • Fixed an issue which would cause a level to restart instead of moving on to the next if using an optional exit that was purchased at a shop.
  • Fixed an issue that would occasionally allow flaming platforms to ride atop of spikes under certain conditions.
  • The layering for some map decorations has been corrected.

Previous save files are compatible with the new update. However, the new results feature will not have a record of progress made on previous levels that were completed on an earlier version.

Loading a version 1.1.0 save file into an earlier version of the game will break the fabric of space time. Don’t do it! If you want to play an earlier version but have a save file from the current build, then it is best to delete your current save file first.

For Windows users, the save file can be located at: /your_drive/users/your_username/AppData/Roaming/Brawn, Scorn and Ammo

For Linux users, the save file can be located at: /home/your_username/.local/share/Brawn, Scorn and Ammo
